As soon the interesting tiny game console launched, Panic revealed the handheld game in the market. Playdate is a small device, offer players mobile access to unique games utilizing the device’s hand crank ‘joystick. According to the company, each game will be made available as part of a ‘season of games.’ Well, many people are naturally raising some questions about how all of this will work. The company Panic says that the Playdate features a 2.7-inch monochromatic screen, so, every game will be presented in a suitably retro black-and-white style.

The company says that it wanted to create “something truly different in the world of video games. It is a tiny, yellow Game Boy-like device but different from others.

Playdate Tiny Game Console

The Panic co-founder Cabel Sasser says that the yellow color immediately made Playdate feel approachable, friendly, and impossible to resist. Coming to its hardware, the device is extremely tiny, measuring in at 74  ×  76  ×  9mm, with a 2.7-inch display. The Playdate features a reflective black-and-white screen with no backlight, two face buttons, and a directional pad. Alongside that it has a hand crank that neatly slots into the side of the device.

On the other hand, the game delivery model might be unique as well. The console gets its name from the software release method, where games arrive once per week in “seasons.” The first season will include 12 games strung out over three months, for instance.

Besides that, Panic has given the details about one of game for Playdate, called Crankin’s Time Travel Adventure. The game uses the device’s hand crank to control the flow of time. The Crankin’s will be one of multiple games made available for the console under its ‘season of games’ arrangement. Not only game company has tapped a number of indie developers for the games. These developers are Shaun Inman, Keita Takahashi, Zach Gage, and Bennett Foddy.
